Although Casillas’ agent, Carlos Cutropia, said retirement is “not something we’re worrying about at all”, Marca report that a decision has already been made.
They report that Porto will ensure Casillas can “return to a normal life after the incident, rather than prioritising his return to the team”.
Casillas has a contract with the Portuguese giants until June 2020 but the heart attack could see the curtain full on an illustrious career.
The Spaniard won five La Liga titles with Real Madrid as well as the Copa del Rey twice, the Club World Cup and the Champions League three times.
His 725 appearances for Los Blancos are the second most in club history, behind only Raul (741), while he captained Spain to the European Championships in 2008 and 2012 and the World Cup in 2010 while winning 167 caps.
After a rocky start at Porto he also helped the club win the Primeira Liga last season.
Despite Marca’s report, the official word from Casillas is that he is not yet thinking about the future.

His agent told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope: “At the moment that’s not something we’re worrying about at all. The most important thing is that he’s doing well and smiling.
“Seeing him like that fills me with so much emotion that it almost makes me happier than when Spain won the World Cup.
